We need two days advance notice to assign volunteer drivers.

Drivers can stay after Mass for social hours (coffee/donuts) for a limited time

Maple Street Shelter Dinners

St. Denis parishioners assist in bringing prepared dishes to the Maple Street Shelter on the 2nd Sunday of the month at 4:30 pm at 1580A Maple Street.

Anyone interested in leading the dinner effort please e-mail Pat Mach at outreach@stdenisparish.org.

Towels, sheets, pillows and blankets are always welcome donations for the residents at the shelter.

In San Mateo County, the St. Vincent de Paul Society has a significant presence. Here are some important numbers:

  • They have an outlet store in Redwood City. For article pickup, phone 650-369-2837.
  • For assistance with food, clothing, PG&E help, rental assistance, home visits, drug and alcohol referrals, shelter, and more, phone 650-343-4403.

    • When Your Turn Comes To Be a Caregiver . . .

    Or maybe your turn hasn't come, but your friend has a sick spouse or elderly parent. There is help available. The trick is finding it. We have assembled the following resources:

  • Caregiver's Yellow Pages. What to do, where to go, whom to call, and, most importantly, how to start. This information is from Modern Maturity.
  • The Elder Care Locator may be reached by dialing 1-800-677-1116. You will receive the telephone number of the state or local agency serving the area where the older person lives.
  • The Area Agency on Aging or Information and Assistance Program may be reached in California by dialing 1-800-510-2020.
  • Here are several Bay Area-based sites for health care for the elderly and disabled:

    Food, Clothing, or Toys to Donate?

    Mother Branch of the East Palo Alto Community Center, 2584 Farrington Way, East Palo Alto, is always looking for food, clothing, or children's toys. It's an easy drive. Call them at (650) 325-2848.

    The Ecumenical Hunger Program also provides food, clothing and toys to families in East Palo Alto who cannot provide for themselves.
