+ + +

I was hungry, and
you formed a humanities club to discuss my hunger.
I was imprisoned, and
you crept off quietly to your chapel to pray for my release.
I was naked, and
in your mind you debated the morality of my appearance.
I was sick, and
you knelt to thank God for your health.
I was homeless, and
you preached to me of the spiritual shelter of the love of God.
I was lonely, and
you left me alone to pray for me.
You seem so holy, so close to God.
But I'm still very hungry and lonely and cold.

Annual Thanksgiving Food Collection

During the week of Thanksgiving it is our parish tradition to reach out to those less fortunate.  Each year we invite parishioners to bring food donations (canned goods and non-perishable items) to the Parish Hall either the Sunday morning before Thanksgiving at all Masses…or to our 9:00 am Parish Mass on Thanksgiving Day.

Thinking About Donating Your Car to Charity?

If so, check out the St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Mateo County.  It's fast, easy, and convenient--besides helping a good cause.  Their car lot is located on the east side of the El Camino Real, where Redwood City and San Carlos meet--just north of Whipple.  They handle all the DMV paperwork; you get the proper forms for use when you file your income taxes.  For more information, give them a call at 1-800-YES-SVDP.

When Your Turn Comes To Be a Caregiver . . .

Or maybe your turn hasn't come, but your friend has a sick spouse or elderly parent.  There is help available.  The trick is finding it.  We have assembled the following resources:

The Caregiver's Yellow Pages.  What to do, where to go, whom to call, and, most importantly, how to start.  This information is from Modern Maturity.
