The two-year program was implemented and reaffirmed by the Advisory
Board in the fall of 2007.

Choosing a
Confirmation Name and Sponsor
By the end of the first year, students will have
selected a Confirmation name and sponsor. They can bring this information to
class along with the contact information of their sponsor so that we can mail
the Sponsor’s Handbook.
A great resource on the saints can
be found here to help your youth find a
role model as a follower of Jesus.
Parish Community Service
Opportunities
10 HOURS REQUIRED both in First and Second years—5 in PARISH and 5 OFF-SITE.
A list of seasonal opportunities in the parish will be e-mailed to the parents to share with their youth.
Community Service Hours Record
From previous years, we know the youth can accomplish
5 hours through Parish activities and 5 more hours in school service projects
or service out in the community for a total of 10 hours. Sign-ups for Parish
opportunities will be posted in the classrooms.
In the first year, a series of texts by
Resources for Christian Living (RCL) allow for more flexibility in designing a
course of study. Each 12-chapter book includes special Scripture chapters, a
weekly challenge to put the Gospel into action, and questions that encourage
family discussion
We are pleased to present in the second year
the text Confirmation by Resources for Christian Living (RCL). Click

Parent Involvement Much of what we do would not be possible
without the involvement of parents who are willing to contribute their time and
effort in the classroom and in community service projects in support of their
youth. Also, receptions held following the sacraments are also an opportunity
to contribute to the parish to help make the celebrations special for all of
the families.

Our local Deanery—area represented by
neighboring Catholic parishes—is pleased to present a series of training
workshops both in the summer and winter for adults interested in exploring
catechetical ministry. Attendance at these workshops also counts towards Basic
Catechist Certification in the Archdiocese of San Francisco.
Our aim is to have a team of two adults to
teach in every grade level. They may take turns presenting the lessons week to
week. We offer continued support and opportunities for further enrichment at
the annual Faith Formation Conference. If you’re interested in exploring this
ministry, please contact Mr. Victor Valdez in the Office of Religious
Education, vvaldez@stdenisparish.org
On September 18, 2005, a group of interested
parents gathered to form a Parent Advisory Board for the Religious Education
Program. They meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 8:00 p.m. in the
Meeting Room in the Parish Offices.
Parishioners interested in joining the Parent Advisory Board are
encouraged to inquire with Mr. Victor Valdez, Parish Catechetical Leader,
