Dear Parishioners,
The setting of the Gospel story of today is immediately after the disciples return from their missionary tour. Jesus asked them, "Who do the crowds say that I am?" They said that Jesus was John the Baptist or Elijah or one of the ancient prophets come back to life. To Jesus' question, "Who do you say that I am?" Peter replied that Jesus was the 'Christ of God'. Peter said that Jesus was the anointed one of God and the Messiah. Jesus asks us the same question. "Who do you say that I am?" Our answer will depend on the type of relationship we have with Christ and the importance we give to Jesus and his values in our lives!
Next week I will be attending the clergy study days organized for the priests of the Archdiocese of San Francisco taking place at Vallombrosa Retreat Center in Menlo Park.
I would like to remind you that there will be a farewell reception for Fr. Tom Moran at Our Lady of the Wayside Church after the Saturday evening 5:15 Mass on June 26 and after the Sunday morning 9:30 Mass on June 27. I would like to invite you all to this farewell reception.
