Dear Parishioners,
This weekend the Church celebrates the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. The Gospel reading for this Sunday is the multiplication of the loaves from the Gospel of Luke. Luke brings out the Eucharistic implication of the multiplication of the loaves by the words he uses to describe it. Luke uses the same words that Jesus used at the institution of the Eucharist during the last supper ... took, blessed, broke, gave. In the Eucharistic celebration the Church continues the mission of Jesus to teach, to heal and to nourish the community of the faithful.
Fr. Tom Moran will be leaving his residence at OLW for St. Charles in San Carlos on Tuesday, June 29, 2010. There will be a farewell reception for him after the 5:15 pm Saturday evening Mass, June 26, and after the 9:30 am Sunday Mass on June 27, 2010 at OLW. I would like to invite you all to the farewell reception for Fr. Tom Moran hosted by the community at OLW.
I would like to let you know that Msgr. Jose Rodriguez will replace Fr. Tom Moran as the retired priest in residence at Our Lady of the Wayside. The announcement came from the Archdiocese on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Msgr. Jose Rodriguez is currently the Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church in San Francisco. He will retire on June 30, 2010. I would like to welcome him to our communities.
I am sure that you will see the new flagstones laid at the entrance to the St. Denis memorial garden and around the fountain. The entire project was a donation from John Morey. The parish is very grateful to him for his generosity! Thank you!
Yours Sincerely,
Fr. Jose Shaji, Pastor
