Dear Parishioners,
I am sure that you already know from Fr. Moran's announcement at both the weekend Masses at Our Lady of the Wayside that the Most Rev. Archbishop George Niederauer decided to transfer Fr. Tom Moran from OLW to another Parish in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. I am very grateful to him for his ministry to the community of OLW for the past four years. I wish him all the best!
The Archdiocese will assign another retired priest to replace Father Moran.
The Baby Shower at St. Denis on April 10, Saturday, was a resounding success. The generosity of people from both St. Denis and OLW was overwhelming- I am very grateful to Eve Scott and First Resort for organizing this event.
As announced earlier, Mr. Paul Schwarzbart, a holocaust survivor, will give a talk on April 18 (this Sunday) at 5:00 pm at St. Denis Parish Center. I would like to invite you to come and listen to his most heartwarming story. I would also like to invite families with children as it is rather appropriate for everyone.
Last weekend we announced the beginning of the Outreach Committee's MAASSRIDE program. Over 20 people have volunteered to take non-driving parishioners to Mass at either OLW or St. Denis. If you are interested, or can give us names of those needing rides please call 854-5976 or 323-1172.
I would like to let you know that 18 of our young people will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on April 24, Saturday at 10:00 am. Retired Auxiliary Bishop of San Francisco, Most Rev. Ignatius Wang will confer on them the sacrament. Please remember these young people in your prayers as they begin their Christian journey as adults.
This Sunday, April 18, after the 9:30 am Mass, we will officially open the renovated kitchen and Hall at OLW Rectory. It will be a nice area for meetings and small receptions and will be available for the use of the Parishioners. I would like to thank Rich Alfano from SEA Constructions who supervised the work. I would also like to thank the members of the building committee: Miquel Aymerich, Barbara Bartlett, Jack and Sharyl Healey, Chris Houlihan and Silvia Vonderlinden, who helped me and Rich Alfano with their suggestions and ideas. Thank you! I would like to thank all those who made monetary contributions to make this project a success! Thank you!
Yours Sincerely,
Fr. Jose Shaji, Pastor
