Dear Parishioners,
St. Thomas Aquinas was once asked, "From where did you get all your wisdom?" He replied, "At the foot of the cross of Christ." Each year we listen to the passion narrative on Palm Sunday and we are invited to enter into the Holy Week to reflect on the cross of Christ. WE come face to face with the mystery of suffering. We too suffer in our lives. Some of it is inevitable, that which is due to our human condition. Then there is the suffering we bring on ourselves. We trap ourselves with our own greed, fear, lazy habits, addictions, anger ... in a way everything that we hold on to. Our suffering, whether self inflicted or inevitable finds its meaning in the Cross of Christ. And then our own suffering becomes redemptive like the suffering of Christ.
