Fifth Sunday of Lent

March 21, 2010

Dear Parishioners,

In the Gospel reading of this Sunday Jesus is faced with a very difficult situation. The woman accused of committing adultery is brought in front of Jesus. If he pardoned the woman he would be accused of encouraging people to break the Mosaic Law. If he agreed that she should be stoned, he would be in trouble with the Romans. What we see is the triumph of God's mercy over logic. Leo the Great said, "Jesus is the hand of God's mercy stretched out to us". "Mercy is God's kind of justice" said St. Therese of Lisieux. Jesus always extends to us his mercy. On the 25th of March, Thursday at 7:00 pm, at St. Denis Church, there will be a communal penance service and opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation. I would like to invite you to this service and receive the Mercy that Jesus extends to each one of us.

St. Patrick's Day dinner was prepared by Chris Oswald, the son of Ralph Oswald, his wife Legia and Robert Shilling, long time friend of Ralph Oswald. I would like to thank the grandchildren of Ralph Oswald who helped to serve the dinner, Lexi and Luke and Victoria and their friend Olivia. Thank you. It was a beautiful evening. The food was delicious and the weather just perfect. I would also like to thank Sr. de Chantal who set up and decorated the Hall and the volunteers who helped to clean up. Thank you for the wonderful evening!

Yours Sincerely,
Fr. Jose Shaji, Pastor
